All his years as an artist, Cal Sobrepeña did countless drawings for komiks from short stories to novels, to fantasy and comedy. As he is best remembered for his illustrations on the cover of Lovelife Komiks, there were also some stories and characters of his own.

The character Daiguru was inspired from the TV series "Samurai ng Shogun" during the 80's. It's a story of a wandering samurai named Ito Ogami  and his son Daiguru. Searching for who knows what, coming across different adversaries along the way that always put their lives in peril.

The side-splitting character came from Cal Sobrepeña's kid neighbor Melvin, this youngster who's physical features mostly resembles Daiguru. His escapades and pristine child innocence sometimes ends him up in amusing situations.

This girl scout character was inspired when he did some illustrations for UNICEF and went to the Girl Scout of the Philippines headquarters. He was charmed by the zest of these girls that led to an idea for this character.

Perhaps this was his own little way of giving accolade to all the girl scouts and to the whole scouting movement everywhere.
